“Doomer in Smash” is something most people thought they would never hear.
Although fans in the west begged game developers to add the cultural icon to the most popular competitive fighting game to ever grace high-school student’s basements, many thought these pleas fell on deaf ears.
However, Nintendo shocked thousands of fans today when they revealed the incredible.
During a live announcement this morning, Super Smash Brothers creator and game developer, Masahiro Sakurai, revealed a new member of the hit fighting game’s roster.
“Doomer (ダウマ “Da-u-ma” in Japan) is a very beloved character in the west. I didn’t want to just release another Fire Emblem character for this DLC. I wanted western audiences to feel more included in the franchise. I felt recent releases were unknown in the west, to the point where western players had never heard of them before.”

Sakurai was excited to describe Doomer’s unique moveset and DLC music. The developer was proud to announce that all the fan-favorites were shipping with the $6 content pack. The developer made it clear these included but were not limited to:
- Russian Doomer Music vol.3 (Superior)
- Just Another Doomer Mixtape 4
- Foster The People – Pumped up Kicks (Doomer Remix)
There were also hints at three new stages:
- Messy bedroom with sunlight peeking through the blinds
- Church
- College classroom
Fans on Twitter expressed eagerness to try these levels out. Most wondered if Nintendo would be able to do justice to the iconic scenes.
Overall, this DLC is already well received. Many are looking forward to January 28th to finally get a chance to play it. Nintendo really hit it out of the park with this one.
